The Samsung Galaxy S21 was one of the most popular smartphones of the previous generation, so it's no surprise that the S22 line has created a buzz. Our reviewers conducted extensive testing of the middle brother in the line - Samsung Galaxy S22+.

Instead, the new phone doesn't reinvent the wheel, Samsung has made significant improvements to a good overall effect. It has all the fantastic perks we've come to expect from Samsung phones lately, an instant camera, a great user interface, a better display, and plenty of features.

The most notable difference between the S22 and S22+ is the size. Compared to the 6.1-inch S22, the Plus has a larger 6.7-inch screen. For many, this will make it less convenient and easier to use with one hand. On the other hand, this slightly larger display is better suited for streaming, photo editing, and similar visual tasks.

We found a few shortcomings with the S22+, but we had to wonder how it compares to some key competitors like the Google Pixel 6 Pro and whether it's a big enough improvement over the Samsung Galaxy S21+ for users to upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review: Summary
Phone Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus
While the S22+ may seem like an iterative upgrade rather than something revolutionary, that context doesn't make it any less of a fantastic phone. One or two of its features are market-leading at this price point, and it competes well across the board.

One such top-of-the-range element is the S22+ AMOLED display. It really stands out. The 6.7-inch panel is bright, responsive, and a pleasure to use. It is ideal for content streaming, video calling and mobile gaming.

Elsewhere, the camera is fantastic and the colors match Samsung's branding, but the Google Pixel 6 Pro's camera works just as well, but costs a bit less.

When it comes to user experience, the phone's 8GB of RAM and 120Hz variable refresh rate ensure a pleasantly smooth experience. Everything looks great on this HDR10+ display, and Android 12 (with Samsung One UI 4.1 overlay) works well. Everything is pretty intuitive, and for Samsung users everything will feel familiar.
